1763–1781 - American Revolution

General Robert Montgomery commanded the American forces at the Battle of Quebec on December 31, 1775, during the American Revolution. Montgomery was killed during the battle.

Soon after colonial militia forces captured Fort Ticonderoga, the Congress also decided that a takeover of Canada was an important part of defeating the British in North America, and a plan was put in place to invade Canada and capture Montreal and Quebec. General Richard Montgomery was one of the commanding officers of the invasion force.

General Richard Montgomery took command of American forces during the Siege of Fort St. John during the American Revolution. After he took Fort St. John, he took Montreal and attempted to take Quebec. He was killed during the Battle of Quebec.
