The Battle of Bloody Pond was the third and final skirmish fought during the Battle of Lake George in 1755, during the French and Indian War.

Margaret Kemble Gage was the wife of General Thomas Gage.

General Thomas Gage served as the Commander-in-Chief of British forces in North American and as the Royal Governor of Massachusetts at the start of the Revolutionary War.

After Baron Dieskau was captured by the British at the Battle of Lake George, the Indian allies of the British threatened to kill him. This painting depicts Sir William Johnson as the man responsible for saving Dieskau, although Johnson was actually injured and Dieskau was under the watch of Lieutenant Daniel Claus.

King Hendrick was a Mohawk Indian sachem (chief) who rose to prominence in the early 1700s. He spoke on behalf of the Iroquois at the Albany Conference in 1754. He died a the Battle of Lake George in 1755, during the Bloody Morning Scout. There is some disagreement as to whether the person depicted in the engraving is actually King Hendrick.
