GENERAL ORDERS, No. 17.

HDQRS. DEPT OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA,
January 30, 1862.

In obedience to orders received from the Secretary of War, assigning him to an important position in another department, General Beauregard is relieved from the duties of his present command.

In losing the aid of this distinguished soldier the commanding general cannot withhold the expression of his sense of the eminent services by which he has achieved so much for our country, our cause, and the renown of our arms.
