WAR DEPT., ADJT. GENERAL’S OFFICE,

Washington, May 19, 1865.

By direction of the President, Major General John A. Logan, U. S. Volunteers, is appointed to the command of the Army of the Tennessee, in place of Major-General Howard, assigned as commissioned of the Freedmen’s Bureau; and Major General W. B. Hazen, U. S. Volunteers, is appointed to the command of the Fifteenth Army Corps, in place of Major-General Logan.
