SPECIAL FIELD ORDERS, No. ___

HDQRS. MIL. DIV. OF THE WEST,
January 23, 1865.

 

I.  General J. B. Hood is relieved, at his own request, by the War Department from the command of the Army of Tennessee. He will report for orders to the War Department, at Richmond, Va.

II. Lieut. Gen. R. Taylor, commanding Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana, will assume command of the Army of Tennessee until further orders.
